The Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar announced on Friday that it has seized new areas in Tripoli's suburbs, reinforcing its positions against forces loyal to Fayez al-Sarraj’s Government of National Accord (GNA).
Meanwhile, the Libyan House of Representatives denounced a statement made by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his country’s intervention in Libya, during the inauguration of TRT World Forum in Istanbul.
The parliament considered Erdogan’s remarks an attempt to justify his support to terrorist groups, militias and armed gangs in Tripoli.
On the battlefield, LNA’s 73rd Infantry Brigade revealed that Army forces have seized what it termed the last pocket in the Wild Life region.
LNA forces are preparing for a large operation in the coming days to liberate Tripoli from pro-Sarraj militias, a prominent officer, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.
Further, the ‘Volcano of Rage’ operation launched by Sarraj’s government forces announced Thursday seizing the Yarmouk military camp.
According to the operation, 16 LNA soldiers were killed and three vehicles were seized.
Ali Ashour, Commander of the Axis of Sbeia, southwest of Tripoli, said that the clashes stopped after an attack with heavy artillery and mortars in the area and its vicinity. Ashour affirmed that his forces reinforced positions in Al Twaisha and Harissa factory.
