Saudi Arabia Reiterates Need to Continue Efforts to Dry up Terrorism Financing

Saudi

The Saudi Arabian cabinet welcomed on Monday the decisions of last week’s Arab information ministers council, hailing its emphasis for the need for Arab unity in confronting terrorism.

It also praised the council, which held its eighth regular session in Cairo, for stressing the need to dry up the sources of financing terrorism, underling the need to continue efforts and coordination on the regional and international levels in order to uproot and destroy it.

The cabinet session, which was chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz at the al-Salam palace in Jeddah, expressed its “strong condemnation and grave concern” over the Israeli authorities’ closure of the al-Aqsa Mosque over the weekend.

It stressed that such an act is a blatant violation against Muslims around the world.

Israel closed the Aqsa Compound on Friday and Saturday following an attack in the area. It was reopened on Sunday.

The Saudi cabinet added that the development will only serve to complicate the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially since the closure marked a precedent.

It therefore demanded that the international community assume its responsibilities and demand Israel to cease such practices.

The cabinet also renewed Saudi Arabia’s great condemnation of the terrorist attack that targeted a security checkpoint in Egypt’s Giza region and the two attacks in Pakistan, offering its condolences to the peoples of both countries.
