Global Competitiveness Report 2019: Saudi Arabia Advances 8 Positions in Judicial Independence

Saudi Arabia has made significant progress in several judicial indicators according to the latest Global Competitiveness Report 2019, published by the World Economic Forum.

According to the report, Saudi Arabia jumped 8 positions in the “judicial independence” sub-index, achieving the 16th ranking globally.

Similarly, it has moved 4 positions in the “efficiency of the legal framework in settling disputes’ sub-index, achieving the 17th ranking globally; while it maintained its 11th global ranking for the “legal framework's adaptability to digital business models” sub-index.

In addition, the Kingdom jumped 11 places in the “efficiency of the legal framework in challenging regulations,” achieving the 18th ranking globally.

“The progress was made possible through the support granted by the Saudi government, and its keen interest to develop the justice system,” noted the Saudi Ministry of Justice.

Saudi Arabia advanced to the 36th position in its overall global ranking, moving three positions forward from its ranking last year.

The report showed improvements in several main and sub-indices and noted the Kingdom’s efforts to diversify its economy and adopt ICT solutions.

Upon the directive of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz met on Thursday with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune at the Presidential Palace in Algiers.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations and security cooperation between the two countries.

Prince Abdulaziz conveyed best wishes from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince to Tebboune, expressing hopes for Algeria's continued success and prosperity.
Several officials from both sides attended the meeting.
