A man has been detained after stabbing and wounding a guard at the French Consulate in the Saudi city of Jeddah, Makkah’s police announced on Thursday.

The Saudi man was arrested after he slightly wounded the guard in the attack, the police said in a statement.

The guard was taken to hospital for treatment, the statement added.
