Lenin Statue Back in Berlin

Berlin, London – After being exhibited in one of Zurich’s museums, the statue of the Russian revolution leader Vladimir Lenin has returned to its destination in the German historical museum in Berlin.

The German Historical Museum announced on Tuesday that the statue known as “Eislebener Lenin” was excursed to the National Swiss Museum to be exhibited in the Russian Revolution Museum.

The 3-meter high and 2.9-ton bronze statue will be displayed in the German Historical Museum from October 18 to April 15, 2018, as part of a special exhibition themed “1917 Revolution: Russia and Europe”.

The exhibition takes place in cooperation with the Swiss national museum.

Lenin had traveled secretly to Russia from his Swiss exile in 1917 on a German train, to lead the Russian revolution.

The statue had been brought to Eisleben in 1943 by the German army as a war booty, and remained there till the invasion of the Red Army.

Since 1991 the monument had been located in the lobby of the German historical museum.
