The Arab Parliament denounced the international silence vis-à-vis Israel's continued aggression and crimes in Gaza Strip, citing, in particular, the failure of the Security Council to issue a ceasefire resolution regarding "the largest humanitarian crisis facing the global conscience", SPA said on Friday.
The Arab Parliament issued its condemnation in a statement at the conclusion of a special session on Palestine held under the title “Supporting Palestine and Gaza” at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo.
The Arab Parliament criticized in its statement the support of countries who defend these crimes in the name of defending human rights, while they are in fact acts of "genocide".
It drew attention to its regional and international endeavors to stop the war on Gaza through several parallel paths, citing its continuous communication with international and regional parliamentary unions, its call on the International Criminal Court to urgently investigate the massacres committed by the occupation authorities and prosecute their perpetrators as war criminals, and its attempt to circumvent the state of total impotence and paralysis of the UN Security Council due to the American veto.
The Arab Parliament called on the United Nations General Assembly to activate unity for peace resolution, and issue a binding resolution for an immediate ceasefire, and to keep the Palestine Committee of the Arab Parliament in a permanent meeting.
It affirmed that the Palestinian issue will remain the foremost concern, as it is firmly rooted in the heart of every Arab, stressing that the Arab people will not accept an infringement on the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people nor depriving them from their most basic right to live in freedom and dignity, and establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha welcomed the resumption of the Syrian Arab Republic's membership in the OIC, emphasizing that the historic decision of the Council of Foreign Ministers reaffirms the support of the OIC and its member states for the Syrian people during this critical time in their history.
He highlighted that the reinstatement of Syria is aimed at facilitating a peaceful and secure political transition that restores the country’s institutions, territorial integrity, and status among nations, SPA reported.
Taha also stressed the General Secretariat’s readiness to fully cooperate with Syria in serving the goals and principles of the OIC and strengthening joint Islamic action.
The decision to reinstate Syria's membership in the OIC was approved during the 20th Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on March 7.

The session focused on discussing the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and calls for their displacement from their land.
