The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed on Monday a cooperation agreement with a civil society organization to implement a water wells development and drilling project in the Hadhramaut, Hodeidah and Shabwa governorates in Yemen.

KSrelief Assistant Supervisor General of Operations and Programs Eng. Ahmed Al Baiz signed the agreement at the center’s headquarters in Riyadh.

According to the Director of the Health and Environmental Aid Department at KSrelief, Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Muallem, eight new wells will be drilled in the project intervention areas in the Yemeni governorates. These water wells will be connected to solar energy systems and equipped with 5-meter-high tanks to ensure access to water.

He added that nine more old wells will be rehabilitated and connected to solar energy systems, benefiting 65,300 individuals.

This agreement is part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts through its humanitarian arm, KSrelief, to support the water and environmental sanitation sector and alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Yemeni people during their humanitarian crisis.
