The Saudi government stressed on Tuesday the Kingdom’s constant keenness on supporting and bolstering joint Arab work in all fields to consolidate security, stability and prosperity in the region.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Riyadh.

The government reiterated its call for putting an end to the escalation of the humanitarian situation in Gaza and its surroundings and mounting military operations that are threatening international security and peace.

The ministers reviewed regional and international developments, reiterating the Kingdom’s remarks at the Conference on Disarmament (CD) high-level segment (HLS) at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. At the event, Saudi Arabia expressed its support for regional and international efforts to ban weapons of mass destruction.

The cabinet was briefed on the message received by King Salman from President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the outcomes of the meeting held between Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Riyadh on Tuesday.

It also reviewed the outcomes of Crown Prince Mohammed’s meeting with Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.

The cabinet reviewed the meetings held between senior Saudi officials and their counterparts from around the world over the past week.

Media Minister Salman al-Dosari told the media that the government went over Saudi Arabia’s participation at the G20 foreign ministers meeting in Brazil and 41st session of the Arab Interior Ministers' Council in Tunisia.

The cabinet highlighted Saudi Aramco’s achievement in adding large quantities to the proven reserves of gas and condensates in the unconventional Jafurah Field.

It also expressed gratitude to the World Tourism Organization and the World Travel and Tourism Council for acknowledging the Kingdom's milestone achievement of being visited by over 100 million tourists in 2023, as well as for its striving to become a desired destination on the world tourism map.

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi discussed developments in the Middle East and efforts to de-escalate tensions with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

During a phone call, the two sides reviewed a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern, with particular focus on the latest developments related to Israeli military operations targeting the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as ongoing efforts to promote de-escalation and enhance regional security and stability, SPA reported.

Albudaiwi reaffirmed the commitment of the GCC member states to supporting international and UN-led efforts, as reflected in the statement issued following the 48th Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council on regional developments.

The council underscored the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire to preserve regional security and stability. It also called on all parties to work collaboratively to de-escalate tensions, prioritize diplomacy as a constructive means of resolving conflicts, and exercise maximum restraint to shield the region and its people from the dangers of war.

For his part, Guterres praised the GCC’s positive role in supporting de-escalation efforts and promoting regional security. He emphasized the United Nations’ desire to strengthen cooperation with the GCC across various areas of shared priority.

Also, Albudaiwi discussed developments in the Middle East with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas during a phone call.

During their talks, they discussed the latest developments in the Middle East and international efforts to advance the peace process, in addition to exchanging views on ways to elevate regional and international coordination to foster security and stability in the region.

Both officials stressed the need to move forward in supporting de-escalation efforts in the region to achieve lasting peace in the region and the world.
