The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia took part in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) executive council meeting held in The Hague, Netherlands, SPA said on Thursday.
Saudi ambassador to the Netherlands and the Kingdom’s permanent representative to the OPCW, Ziyad Al-Attiyah, read the Kingdom’s statement to the meeting which runs through March 8.
He underscored the Kingdom’s unwavering position that calls for enhancing international cooperation in the prohibition of all kinds of weapons of mass destruction.
He reiterated its position that the use of chemical weapons and toxic chemicals under any circumstances is reprehensible and a violation of the provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention and the established basic rule of international law.

Saudi Arabia condemned on Wednesday Israel’s publication of maps that show its occupation of parts of Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, claiming these territories as its own.

In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry slammed such extremist acts that reflect Israel’s “intentions to consolidate its occupation and continue its flagrant violation of the sovereignty of those nations.”

Saudi Arabia called on the international community to assume is responsibility in stopping these violations, “stressing the need to respect the sovereignty and borders of these countries to ease tensions and put a stop to attempts to undermine peace efforts.”
