The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has condemned the blatant attack targeting the residence of the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Sudan.

He called on the Sudanese government to make every effort to protect diplomatic facilities and their personnel.

Albudaiwi on Monday emphasized that the attack represents a gross violation of the fundamental principle of the inviolability of diplomatic premises and stressed the importance of protecting diplomatic buildings and embassy staff according to the norms and conventions governing diplomatic work.

He expressed his strong condemnation of the attack and the GCC’s steadfast rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism that aim to undermine security and stability and are inconsistent with international law.

Additionally, Albudaiwi referred to the statements in the ministerial declaration of the GCC countries, which reaffirmed the council’s consistent positions and decisions regarding the importance of maintaining Sudan’s sovereignty, security, stability, and territorial integrity. He also urged the Sudanese government and the Rapid Support Forces to engage seriously and effectively with initiatives to resolve the crisis, including the Jeddah platform and neighboring countries.
