Saudi Arabia welcomed on Saturday the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) advisory opinion on Israel’s policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories and the ICJ’s confirmation of the illegality of the Israeli presence in the territories for the past 57 years.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry said the Kingdom stressed the need to take practical and credible steps to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict according to the Arab Peace Initiative and international resolutions in a way that guarantees the Palestinian people their inherent right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, strongly condemned the Knesset's approval of a bill rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state, the Saudi Press Agency said on Thursday.
"The decision of the Israeli occupation forces is a clear violation of international resolutions related to the Palestinian cause and confirms their desire and continued efforts to fuel tension and threaten security and stability in the region and the world”, said Albudaiwi in a statement.
He called on the international community to reject and condemn this unjust decision, which reflects the Israeli occupation forces' intentions to expand the conflict and their unwillingness to achieve stability and peace in the region.
Albudaiwi reiterated the GCC countries' positions on the Palestinian cause, supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, and supporting the Palestinian people in obtaining all their legitimate rights.
