Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir hailed on Saturday the international community unanimous rejection of US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
He said: “We urge Washington to reconsider its decision on Jerusalem.”
He made his plea during an emergency Arab League meeting that was held in Cairo to address Trump’s decision, which also saw him approve the relocation of his country’s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
Jubeir added that the 2002 Arab peace initiative that was signed in Beirut serves as roadmap for a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
“We therefore call on the international community to intensify its efforts to allow the Palestinian people to regain their rights and for stability to be restored in the region,” stressed the Saudi minister.
