Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah urged on Tuesday unity among the people to protect the country from internal and external conflicts.

In his address to the fourth ordinary session of the National Assembly's 15th legislative term, he called on them to cast away their differences and work together for a better future, reported the Kuwait news agency (KUNA)

He said that the region was passing through an exceptional and unprecedented phase with conflicts and instability in nearby countries.

As a result, the people of Kuwait must take into consideration the importance of national unity and solidarity to overcome any obstacle that may bring harm to the country, he stressed.

On the Gulf Cooperation Council dispute and the situations in some parts of the Arab world, Sheikh Sabah said the Gulf countries and Arab world must overcome differences and prioritize the interest of the people otherwise they meet an “ill fate” that had befallen other countries.

Moreover, he warned against the use of social media and other outlets to create discord and promote sectarianism.

He called on the National Assembly to take proper steps focusing on the development of Kuwait and its people in cooperation with the government, stressing that the executive and legislative branches were both established to serve the interest of the public.

Sheikh Sabah renewed his confidence in National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim and Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, wishing them success in their duties.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, have stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and work towards a clear political horizon for a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

Sheikh Mohamed met with Sisi in Abu Dhabi on ways to further strengthen cooperation between their two countries across various sectors, particularly those that advance their shared development goals.

A statement said that the two leaders also reviewed regional and international issues of mutual concern and exchanged views on recent developments in the Middle East, particularly efforts to restore security and stability in the region.

“They stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and work towards a clear political horizon for a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, ensuring security and stability for all,” said a statement carried by Emirates News Agency (WAM) on Wednesday.

Sheikh Mohamed and Sisi “reaffirmed their shared commitment to continued consultation and coordination between the UAE and Egypt on matters that serve the interests of both nations and support efforts to promote regional peace, security, and stability as essential foundations for development and prosperity,” it added.

Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the meeting in Abu Dhabi “also addressed the situations in Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen and Somalia as well as other regional developments.”

El-Sisi and Sheikh Mohamed “confirmed the paramount need to protect the security and sovereignty of these countries, thereby achieving their peoples’ aspirations for stability and prosperity,” El-Shennawy said.

The two leaders also affirmed the importance of delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza in adequate quantities and without impediments, to save the people of the Palestinian enclave from the dire humanitarian conditions, he added.
