NEOM’s general plan and the phases of implementation and construction of the project will be announced within the coming two months, as the features of the new city will be unveiled to the world three to five years later, announced NEOM CEO Nadhmi al-Nasr.
Speaking after the launching ceremony of NEOM Academy, Nasr said that 2020 will be the beginning of NEOM’s visionary projects.
“This is why NEOM Academy will open its doors in the next few weeks to train 1,000 students from the area, in fields that support various important sectors at NEOM such as energy, tourism, transportation, hospitality and others,” he was quoted as saying by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
NEOM will strive to attract more male and female students until reaching the target number of 6,000 beneficiaries, stated Nasr, adding that the academy will provide jobs for local residents.
“NEOM’s partnerships with national institutions will increase based on the need for training and qualification,” indicated the CEO.
NEOM is a long-term global project, noted Nasr, asserting that the main strategies for implementation after planning were developed not long ago, and 2020 is the year of implementation, which means building in all different areas within the project.
NEOM needs partners to prepare minds and create knowledge inside and outside the Kingdom, according to SPA.
“The inauguration of the academy and the signing of many partnership agreements with the University of Tabuk and Prince Fahad Bin Sultan University, are only the beginning of the educational work, which is a partnership to prepare citizens and especially the people of Tabuk," according to Nasr.
The CEO stated that NEOM's partnerships with national institutions will increase based on the actual need for training and qualification because NEOM as a project develops to reach its desired and expected goal.
He also explained that the main goal is to empower citizens with scientific and practical tools, to be part of the implementation that will increase their awareness and education through practice.
He also indicated that qualified individuals will be interviewed and the most suitable will be selected during the recruitment process for employment.
Nasr thanked the Emir of Tabuk for launching NEOM academy, and signing the partnership agreements between NEOM, the University of Tabuk, and Prince Fahad Bin Sultan University, which will have a positive reflection on the Saudi people in general, and the region’s young men and women in particular.
