The British Government's Regional Information and Communication Center based in the British Embassy in Dubai, announced the appointment of a new spokesperson for the British Government in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) region this week. The new spokesperson will replace Alyson King who will serve as UK Deputy Ambassador in Beirut.

The center stated on Sunday that Rosie Dyas has started her work as an official spokesperson to the British government in the MENA region.

She will be responsible for informing the Arab audience about the British government's policy and priorities in the region, especially via regional media outlets and social media platforms, such as Twitter and Instagram.

Dyas has strong ties with the Gulf, the Levant and North Africa, as she lived in the region and visited many countries over the past 10 years.

She joined the British Foreign Ministry in 2006. During this period, she studied communication and crisis management and acquired regional expertise in MENA affairs. She led teams in responding to many natural disasters and terrorist attacks, along with many crises across the world, including the conflict in Gaza Strip in 2014 and the war in Syria.

Dyas also served as the Chief of Staff of the Bureau of Former Foreign Ministers Boris Johnson and Philip Hammond as well as former Middle East Affairs Minister Tobias Ellwood, and previously held the position of Deputy Head of Information Officer and Deputy Head of the Near East Affairs Division in London.

Saudi Arabia has earned a Guinness World Record for hosting the world's largest Capture The Flag (CTF) computer security competition during the Black Hat Middle East and Africa (MEA) cybersecurity event.
The competition tasked participants with solving simulated cybersecurity challenges in a virtual environment.

These tasks were categorized into risk-based, attack and defense, and hybrid scenarios, reflecting real-world cybersecurity threats, SPA reported.
Many participants praised the event as a valuable platform for practical training and skill development in cybersecurity.
The CTF competition, one of the largest events at Black Hat MEA, provided participants an opportunity to demonstrate their ethical hacking expertise while honing their skills in protecting systems and data. This initiative aligns with the Saudi Vision 2030 goal of advancing the Kingdom as a global leader in cybersecurity innovation and resilience.
