Saudi Arabia condemned on Sunday the attack against the convoy of the governor of Yemen’s Aden and the country’s agriculture minister.

A car bomb targeting the governor’s convoy shook the southern port city of Aden on Sunday killing at least six people and wounding seven, the information minister said on Twitter.

Governor Ahmed Lamlas and minister Salem al-Suqatri survived a “terrorist assassination attempt”, the state news agency said.

Killed in the attack were the governor’s press secretary and his photographer, the head of his security detail and a fourth companion as well as a civilian bystander, a local government source said.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry slammed the terrorist act that was committed by “forces of evil”.

Such an attack is not only targeted against the legitimate Yemeni government, but the entire Yemeni people, who are seeking security, peace, stability and prosperity at a time when forces of darkness are standing in their way, it added.

Saudi Arabia stands by Yemen and the Yemeni people, as it has from day one, and it calls on all parties to resume the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, unite ranks and confront terrorism to achieve security and stability and restore the state, added the ministry.
