Egypt’s ambassador to Doha Amr al-Sherbiny handed over his credentials to Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Monday.

Sherbiny conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to the Qatari Emir, an Egyptian foreign ministry statement noted.

He underscored the new phase of bilateral ties and the common will to move those relations forward towards further joint cooperation on the basis of mutual interests.

For his part, Sheikh Tamim sent his greetings to Sisi as well, hailing the developments in bilateral ties, according to the statement.

Doha is keen to activate cooperation with Cairo in various fields, wishing the Egyptian ambassador success in carrying out his duties, it added.

In January, AlUla declaration was signed at the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council summit that was hosted by Saudi Arabia to end a 4-year severed ties between Riyadh, Cairo, Manama and Abu Dhabi on the one hand, and Doha on the other.

The foreign ministers of Egypt and Qatar exchanged visits after.

Sisi met Sheikh Tamim in Baghdad in August, in the first meeting since the two countries agreed to end the Gulf rift. They also met earlier this month on the sidelines of the Climate Summit (COP26) in Glasgow.

Ministers and ambassadors from both countries have recently intensified meetings and discussed means to bolster bilateral cooperation.

Lebanon’s Health Minister Firass Abiad said Friday that Israel has carried out attacks on 55 hospitals — 36 of which were directly hit — leaving 12 people dead and 60 wounded.

Abiad told reporters that eight hospitals have been closed while seven are still partially functioning.

He said that paramedic groups have been targeted in different areas, killing 151 people and wounding 212. Of the paramedics killed, eight remain in their ambulances in south Lebanon with Israel’s military preventing anyone from reaching them, he said.

"Attacks against the medical and paramedic sectors in Lebanon are direct and intentional aggressions," Abiad said, adding that Israel’s military claims to have intelligence information on what is happening in Lebanon, thus cannot say that these attacks happened by mistake.

"This is a war crime," Abiad said.
