The Saudi Defense Ministry said on Monday the Kingdom's defenses intercepted and downed a hostile aerial target fired at Taif city in western Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry said the threat was launched by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen.

The necessary deterrent operations will be taken to neutralize the threat and protect civilians, it stressed.
