A Saudi technical team arrived in Tehran on Saturday to discuss reopening Saudi Arabia's diplomatic missions in Iran.

This comes in implementation of the joint tripartite agreement of Saudi Arabia, Iran and China, and to what was agreed upon by the two sides during the talks session between Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, and Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Thursday.

The Saudi technical team, headed by Nasser Al-Ghanoum, met with the Chief of Protocol at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Honardost at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Tehran.

During the meeting, the Saudi team chief expressed his thanks to Ambassador Honardost for the warm welcome and facilitating the team's arrival procedures.

Honardost said his country was ready to provide all facilities and support to facilitate the mission of the Saudi team.

On April 6, Saudi Arabia and Iran had agreed to reopen diplomatic missions in the two countries within a two months period as agreed upon in March, according to a joint statement issued following the historic meeting between the two foreign ministers in Beijing.

The two sides agreed to proceed with necessary measures to open their embassies in Riyadh and Tehran, and their consulates general in Jeddah and Mashhad.

Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology warned on Friday of heavy rains in Makkah and Al-Jumum Governorate including the centers of Rahat and Madrakah.

The rain will be accompanied by strong winds, lack of horizontal visibility, hail, torrents, and thunderstorms.

It said the weather conditions will continue until Friday night.

Meanwhile, the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, in cooperation with other government agencies working in the Grand Mosque, intensified cleaning and drying of the Mataf area (circumambulation track) after the rainfall witnessed in Makkah on Thursday to ensure the safety and security of worshippers and Umrah performers.

The authority mobilized more than 200 supervisors and observers, 4,000 workers, and more than 500 pieces of equipment to deal with the rain.

To ensure the thoroughness of the cleaning process, water suction and washing equipment were strategically distributed both inside and outside the Grand Mosque.
