Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz underscored on Sunday the centrality of the Palestinian cause and Arab identity of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Addressing the Arab Summit in Tunisia, he said: “The Palestinian cause will remain Saudi Arabia’s top concern until the Palestinian people obtain all of their legitimate rights, starting with the establishment of their independent state based on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

On Syria, he rejected any measures that could undermine Syria’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights. He also underlined the importance of reaching a political solution to end its crisis that would ensure its territorial integrity and prevent foreign meddling.

On Yemen, King Salman voiced his support to the United Nations’ effort to reach a political solution to the country’s crisis based on the three references. He also urged the international community to force the Iran-backed Houthi militias to cease their hostile acts that have caused immense suffering for the Yemeni people and threatened the region’s security and stability.

Moreover, he stressed that Saudi Arabia will continue to carry out its humanitarian and development program in Yemen to alleviate the suffering of the people.

Turning to Libya, King Salman stressed that the Kingdom underscores the unity and safety of the country. It backs UN efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis that would secure Libya’s stability and eliminate the threat of terrorism.

Furthermore, he condemned Iran’s “aggressive policies” that are a flagrant violation of all international treaties. He therefore, demanded that the international community assume its responsibilities in countering these policies and preventing Iran from supporting terrorism throughout the world.

Saudi Arabia will continue its efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, he vowed. He said that the attack in New Zealand confirms that terrorism has no religion, race or nation.

Despite the challenges, King Salman voiced optimism that the Arab nation will enjoy a promising future that would meet the aspirations of its people.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned on Monday the ongoing Israeli colonial practices, particularly the confiscation of thousands of dunums of Palestinian land and archeological sites.
Israel has recently seized archaeological sites in the village of Sebastia, in the Nablus governorate.
The OIC emphasized that Israel’s actions are part of its destructive policy against hundreds of archaeological, historical, and scientific sites, as well as places of worship in Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including the occupied city of Jerusalem, the Saudi Press Agency said.
The OIC stressed that these actions aim to erase, plunder and distort the cultural and civilizational heritage of the Palestinian people, in clear defiance of international law, the Geneva Convention, relevant UN resolutions, and the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict and its protocols.
The organization urged the international community, especially the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to take immediate action to safeguard the tangible and intangible cultural assets in the occupied Palestinian territory.
