Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman held separate talks in Riyadh on Tuesday with US envoy to Yemen Tim Lenderking and UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

Talks focused on the latest developments in Yemen and joint efforts exerted towards supporting Saudi Arabia’s initiative to end the conflict.

On his talks with Griffiths, Prince Khalid tweeted: “I assured him of the Kingdom's support to the UN’s efforts to establish a ceasefire and reach a comprehensive political resolution to the Yemeni crisis.”

For his part, the envoy lauded Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian role to end the conflict through the initiative it presented earlier this year and that enjoys the backing of the UN.

On his talks with Lenderking, Prince Khalid said they held a “constructive meeting to review the latest developments in Yemen.”

He tweeted that they “discussed the common efforts to support the Saudi initiative and the UN’s ceasefire efforts that will help achieve a comprehensive political resolution to the Yemeni crisis.”

Both meetings were attended by Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al-Jaber.

On Monday, Prince Khalid had received US Central Command Marine Gen. Frank McKenzie in Riyadh.

Talks focused on the Saudi-American partnership, specifically their defense and military cooperation.

They underlined their importance and role in preserving international security and peace and bolstering regional stability.

They also discussed the latest regional developments and efforts exerted towards them to boost regional and international security and peace.

Kuwait's foreign ministry issued on Sunday a circular indicating that it had listed eight hospitals in Lebanon as part of regulations related to "combating terrorism.”

Lebanon's health ministry expressed surprise and said it would seek clarification.

It said it received the Kuwaiti statement "with great surprise", adding it had not been provided with "any information or notification from any Kuwaiti entity about this matter.”

"The hospitals mentioned in the statement are registered with the syndicate of private hospitals in Lebanon and carry out their role in providing treatment and health services to all Lebanese without exception," the ministry statement said.

It called the facilities "an essential part of the Lebanese health system,” and said it would contact the relevant authorities to request clarification and "protect Lebanon's health system.”

It noted that "Kuwait has numerous joint projects with the ministry... and has been among the most prominent countries that have stood by the health system during the successive crises that Lebanon has faced.”

The latest move was "unprecedented and inconsistent" with the Gulf country's usual approach, it added.
