Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman held separate talks in Riyadh on Tuesday with US envoy to Yemen Tim Lenderking and UN envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

Talks focused on the latest developments in Yemen and joint efforts exerted towards supporting Saudi Arabia’s initiative to end the conflict.

On his talks with Griffiths, Prince Khalid tweeted: “I assured him of the Kingdom's support to the UN’s efforts to establish a ceasefire and reach a comprehensive political resolution to the Yemeni crisis.”

For his part, the envoy lauded Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian role to end the conflict through the initiative it presented earlier this year and that enjoys the backing of the UN.

On his talks with Lenderking, Prince Khalid said they held a “constructive meeting to review the latest developments in Yemen.”

He tweeted that they “discussed the common efforts to support the Saudi initiative and the UN’s ceasefire efforts that will help achieve a comprehensive political resolution to the Yemeni crisis.”

Both meetings were attended by Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al-Jaber.

On Monday, Prince Khalid had received US Central Command Marine Gen. Frank McKenzie in Riyadh.

Talks focused on the Saudi-American partnership, specifically their defense and military cooperation.

They underlined their importance and role in preserving international security and peace and bolstering regional stability.

They also discussed the latest regional developments and efforts exerted towards them to boost regional and international security and peace.

King Salman lauded the distinct relations between the two countries and peoples.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has sent a similar cable of congratulations to Saied.
