Secretary General of Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa expressed his condolences to Algeria over the victims and people injured by forest fires that swept the country.

He expressed full solidarity with the government and people of Algeria, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

Thirty-seven people were killed and 183 injured in the wildfires.

The wildfires were burning in mountainous areas and the victims were from the provinces of Al Taref, and Setif, in the eastern part of the arid and semi-arid country, Africa's largest.

A year ago, at least 65 were killed by wildfires in the Kabylie region.

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received on Friday a phone call from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

During the call, they discussed regional developments, their security and humanitarian repercussions, and the ongoing efforts to address them.
