Saudi Arabia and Oman said on Monday they were determined to hold the first meeting of their coordination council during 2023.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and his Omani counterpart Badr Albusaidi held consultative talks in Muscat on Monday aimed at tackling regional challenges and ways to address them through peaceful means.

They stressed the Kingdom and Sultanate's continued coordination over regional affairs and constructive cooperation in their foreign ministries.

In a statement, Prince Faisal said the activation of the Saudi-Omani coordination council is an important mechanism that will bolster bilateral cooperation between the neighbors, especially in trade and investment.

He described as positive the meeting he held with Albusaidi, underscoring the strong and close ties shared between Saudi Arabia and Oman.

The relations are witnessing development in several fields and initiatives to implement major projects that would strengthen the economic integration between them, he added.

The FM’s discussed the unique bilateral relations between their countries and opportunities of bilateral cooperation in various domains, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

They also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments.

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received on Monday separate telephone calls from Deputy Prime Minister and FM of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Turkish FM Hakan Fidan.

The FMs discussed regional developments, including the continued attacks by the terrorist Houthi militia on civilian areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and expressed their condemnation of these attacks.

Prince Faisal and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultations to strengthen joint Gulf cooperation, reduce escalation, prevent tensions from spreading, and maintain regional security and stability.

Prince Faisal and Fidan reviewed the latest developments, Saudi and Turkish efforts to address current challenges, and their joint endeavors to boost regional security and stability.

The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen targeted weapons smuggled to the terrorist Houthi militia and vessels used for the illicit operations off Yemen’s coast.

The Coalition Joint Forces Command had warned the militia against using traditional vessels (Za'ima, Huri, Jalbah, and Sanbuq) to smuggle weapons, missiles, and military equipment by sea.

It stressed that such activities pose a threat to Yemen's security, as well as regional and international security, endangering civilian lives and safety. The smuggling is carried out through organized crime gangs working with the Houthis.

The Joint Forces Command urged all owners of maritime vessels to refrain from cooperating with the militia in smuggling weapons, missiles, and military equipment by sea to Yemen's shores, in order to protect their lives and property.

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received on Monday a written message from Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on bilateral relations between their countries.

The message was received by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Waleed Elkhereiji during a meeting with Ambassador of Qatar to Saudi Arabia Bandar bin Mohammed Al Attiyah at the ministry's headquarters in Riyadh.
