French Minister of Interior Gerald Moussa Darmanin and his German counterpart Nancy Faeser are scheduled to visit Tunisia on Sunday.
The visit will tackle the issue of illegal migration from Tunisian shores to the northern Mediterranean coast.
According to French media sources, the two interior ministers will arrive in Tunis on Sunday for a one-day visit with aim of boosting cooperation among France, Germany, and Tunisia in negotiations with the European Union.
The officials are scheduled to hold meetings with Tunisian President Kais Saied and Tunisia's Minister of Interior Kamal Feki.
The meeting holds great significance as it will determine Tunisia's position on the "full partnership" program proposed during the recent visit of the President of the European Commission, along with the Prime Ministers of Italy and the Netherlands.
During their visit, the three European officials made a commitment to provide urgent financial assistance of 150 million euros to Tunisia.
They also pledged approximately 900 million euros, contingent upon the Tunisian authorities playing a more substantial role in curbing the flow of illegal migrants from Tunisian shores, particularly in the region of Sfax.
Italian sources indicate that the number of migrants has increased by over tenfold in recent months, underscoring the pressing nature of the situation.
