The Israeli forces detained more than 70 Palestinians on Friday across the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society.
Among the detainees, there are two women and a journalist, it said, amid the ongoing arrests and systematic retaliation operations against Palestinians since October 7.
In a statement, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society said the new arrests bring the total number of Palestinians detained by the Israeli forces since October 7 to nearly 1,530.
It added that most of the detainees are held under Israel’s administrative detention policy. This allows Israeli authorities to detain anyone for three to six months without charge or trial, which can be extended indefinitely.
Israeli officials said that the arrests target leaders and members of Hamas in the West Bank.
The number of Palestinians in Israeli prisons has reached more than 6,600, according to Palestinian statistics.
