Lebanon’s Hezbollah group said on Tuesday it attacked the Israeli Malkiya military base opposite Lebanon’s southern town of Houla.
“In support of the staunch Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, we have launched a strike using the appropriate weaponry in the morning today at the Israeli Malkiya base inflicting direct damages”, a Hezbollah statement said.
A pro-Hezbollah television station said earlier that “Israeli artillery has struck the outskirts of the town of Aitaroun in South Lebanon”.
The Israel-Lebanon border has seen escalating tit-for-tat exchanges, mainly between the Israeli army and Hamas ally Hezbollah, since the Palestinian group launched a shock attack on Israel on October 7. Israel has carried out relentless strikes on Gaza in retaliation.
