Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit stressed that the Israeli occupation’s war on civilians in Gaza reflects a satanic plan that is clear in its goals and objectives.
In a speech he delivered at the 31st ministerial session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), held Monday at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Aboul Gheit said that the Israeli occupation does not have as an aim the elimination of a movement, as it claims, but rather the elimination of an entire society, tearing apart its fabric and destroying the possibility of life in the Gaza Strip for a long time to come.
He pointed out that the goal of this diabolical plan is to liquidate the Palestinian cause by separating the people from their land, either by making their land uninhabitable or by forcibly displacing them and deporting them by force of arms, which will never happen, with the Israeli leaders continuously stating these objectives publicly.
SPA quoted Aboul Gheit saying: "Every new day of this war moves us further away from the two-state solution that the Palestinians, the Arabs, and the entire world has accepted, except for Israel, which believes, mistakenly, that it can inflict a second catastrophe on the Palestinians. However, even if it kills thousands of innocent civilians without guilt, it will not kill their dream and will not force them to give up their right to land and life.”
He called for an immediate ceasefire to preserve the security and stability of the region, expressing concern over the irresponsible actions that have become a source of threat in the Red Sea, with a negative impact on the economy of the Arab region.
Aboul Gheit said that the annual ESCWA ministerial meetings address many topics related to the commission's activities, and come up with policies and directives that will help it achieve its goals, stressing that there is no development without peace and stability.
