President of the Federation of Saudi Chambers Hasan al-Huwaizi announced a comprehensive project to develop the Saudi-foreign business councils with several axes.
The project aims to increase the number of councils to 70 to boost the Kingdom’s trade and investment relations with more than 124 countries.
On Monday, the heads of Saudi foreign business councils held a meeting at the Federation’s headquarters in the presence of the Deputy Governor of the General Authority for Foreign Trade Deputyship of Private Sector Affairs and Global Presence, Fawaz bin Rafaa.
The development project aims to activate the councils’ role, contribute to achieving Vision 2030, and establish effective trade and investment partnerships that increase the private sector’s contribution to foreign trade.
The project includes holding quarterly meetings, attracting major companies and investors, and increasing the representation of women, entrepreneurs, and small and medium enterprises in council membership.
It also aims to boost funding sources, provide technical, logistical, informational, and human support for their activities, and develop effective plans for the economic goals of each country.
The proposals of business council heads focused on coordinating between the councils and relevant authorities in forums and delegations, strengthening its position as a representative of the Saudi private sector abroad, activating its membership, and maximizing its share of government investment agreements.
The meeting highlighted the importance of providing the necessary economic information, overcoming the challenges in coordination with counterparts, highlighting the comparative advantages of each country, and activating its participation in committees and joint coordination councils with foreign countries.
About 40 Saudi foreign business councils from 83 countries operate under the umbrella of the Federation of Saudi Chambers under the supervision of the General Authority for Foreign Trade.
