Saudi Minister of Commerce Dr. Majid Al-Kassabi inaugurated on Wednesday the Makkah Halal Forum, under the theme “Sustainable Development through Halal.”
The forum is being held at the Makkah Chamber for Exhibitions and Events Center, with the attendance of several officials, business leaders, and stakeholders.
"The halal sector is one of the fastest-growing industries worldwide, with the halal products market estimated at around $7 trillion in 2024 and expected to reach $10 trillion by 2030, with an annual growth rate of 5.5%,” Al-Kassabi said.
The halal industry is no longer limited to Islamic countries but has become a global focus, driven by quality and adherence to health and religious standards, he stated.
As part of Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom has adopted a strategy to strengthen its position as a global hub for the halal industry, he stressed.
This is being achieved through the national strategy for halal products and the establishment of the Halal Products Development Company to support innovation, enhance quality, and open new avenues for growth.
Makkah Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman and Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development Chairman Abdullah Saleh Kamel said the forum serves as a leading global platform to enhance the halal industry and support the Islamic economy.
He pointed out that the halal market has expanded into multiple sectors, necessitating new strategies for excellence and quality, emphasizing that Makkah is the fundamental launching point for these initiatives.
Memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed between various local, Islamic, and international entities.
Participating organizations, sponsors, and distinguished individuals who played a key role in the success of the forum were also honored, foremost among them Al-Kassabi.
