UAE’s Minister of Culture Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi has reaffirmed the country's commitment to advancing the arts and cultural landscape, emphasizing the leadership's dedication to fostering creativity and supporting artistic talent, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
His remarks on Friday came in response to the Decree Law on Empowering the Arts Sector, which he described as a strategic step towards establishing a legislative umbrella and unified policies to regulate the activities of art institutions and enhance the environment that nurtures arts and creativity, WAM said.
"It reflects our government's vision and interest in the arts sector, which fosters creativity and attracts talent from all over the world to live and work in the UAE," the news agency quoted him as saying.
Sheikh Salem highlighted the Ministry of Culture's role in translating the UAE leadership's vision and national strategies into reality. He stressed the importance of the law in stimulating the creative economy, which directly contributes to the national economy, and providing government incentives to empower creatives and bolster the country's cultural and artistic standing.
"The arts sector is pivotal in fostering societal development at all levels. It strengthens national and intellectual identity, enriches cultural movements, and positively impacts the social, economic, and educational landscape. Building on this foundation, this law aligns with the government's vision to establish an integrated cultural system that nurtures creativity and paves the way for advancing the country's artistic and cultural sectors," he added.
