Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi inaugurated on Wednesday Aden General Hospital, which was rehabilitated by the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program of Yemen (SDRPY).

The ceremony was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Yemen and the DRPY’s General Supervisor Mohammed Al-Jaber.

Speaking to journalists, Al-Alimi confirmed that the collective cost of the projects to be inaugurated is over $400 million, encompassing healthcare, roadways, and education. One of the projects includes an all-inclusive medical city in the Al-Mahra Governorate.

The Saudi ambassador had arrived in Aden on Tuesday, where he met with Al-Alimi and Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik.

In a tweet, Al-Jaber emphasized Saudi Arabia’s unwavering support for the PLC’s efforts and the Kingdom’s persistent endeavors to stop hostilities and create opportunities to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Yemeni crisis. This solution would involve all Yemeni factions and be sponsored by the UN.

Yemeni Health Minister Qassem Buheibeh told Asharq Al-Awsat that the inauguration of the hospital in Aden marks a significant milestone in the country’s healthcare sector, as it boasts 270 beds, including 50 dedicated to the cardiology center.

The center is a first-rate facility in the city of Aden and its surrounding areas.

Buheibeh highlighted the healthcare centers backed by the SDRPY, such as the King Salman Medical City in the Al-Mahrah Governorate, which is currently under construction.

He also noted the University Hospital project and the Cancer Treatment Center in the city of Mukalla, the capital of Hadhramaut Governorate, where the land has been acquired, and designs for the hospital and center are currently pending.

According Buheibeh, another project is being developed in the Taiz province, which involves a medical science college and a cancer treatment center, all supported by the SDRPY.

Saudi Arabia has secured top global rankings in the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2025–2026 report, reflecting a highly competitive environment and reinforcing its position as a premier global hub for entrepreneurship.

The Kingdom led all high-income economies in Entrepreneurial Finance, highlighting the efficiency of its financing tools for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Additionally, Saudi Arabia ranked third globally in the National Entrepreneurship Context Index (NECI), cementing its status as an elite destination for entrepreneurial investment and growth, SPA reported.

Total early-stage Entrepreneurial Activity (TEA) has seen rapid expansion, jumping from 12.1% in 2018 to 28.9% in 2025. Similarly, entrepreneurial intentions nearly doubled, rising from 26.8% to 48.5% over the same period.

This growth is mirrored in the academic sector, where the Kingdom climbed from 53rd to seventh place globally in university-based entrepreneurship.

These milestones result from integrated efforts between government entities like the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monsha'at), the private sector, and academic institutions.
