The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has emphasized the importance of enhancing the strategic partnership between the GCC and China.

He made his remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom, Chen Weiqing, at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh.

Albudaiwi confirmed that the meeting involved a discussion on the follow-up mechanism for the outcomes mentioned in the statement issued by the Riyadh Summit for Cooperation and Development between the GCC and China, which took place on December 9. The objective of this summit was to strengthen the existing strategic partnership between the two sides.

He also mentioned that the bilateral negotiations concerning the Free Trade Agreement were discussed, alongside reviewing developments in the region and the world, as well as issues of mutual concern.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has sent a cable to the President of Comoros, Colonel Azali Assoumani, condemning the attempt to assassinate him.

In the cable, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques condemned this attack and rejected all forms of violence, wishing the President a speedy recovery.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has sent a similar cable to Assoumani to condemn the assassination attempt.
