Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha called on Saturday for the immediate release of Niger’s democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum.

He said he was following with deep concern the developments in Niger, an OIC member.

He strongly condemned any attempt to seize power by force, stressing Bazoum’s safety and need to restore the rule of law in the country.

Taha stressed that the OIC attaches great importance to peace, security and stability in Niger, as well as the entire Sahel region.

He expressed support for regional efforts towards that end and his full solidarity with the people of Niger.

Saudi Arabia Condemns Israeli Closure of UNRWA Schools in Jerusalem

Saudi Arabia expressed the strongest condemnation of the closure orders issued by Israeli authorities against six schools operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in East Jerusalem, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed in a statement the Kingdom’s unequivocal rejection of the Israeli occupation authorities’ ongoing intransigence and systematic targeting of UNRWA, and humanitarian and relief efforts—particularly in light of the continued silence from the international community.
The Ministry urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in the face of Israel’s ongoing violations against the Palestinian people, emphasizing that silence in the face of such actions only exacerbates the crisis and further undermines prospects for a just and lasting peace in the region.
