The Saudi Foreign Ministry said on Saturday the Kingdom was closely watching the unprecedented developments unfolding between Palestinian factions and Israeli forces and the ensuing escalation in violence.

In a statement, it called for an “immediate halt to the escalation.” It urged the protection of civilians and for parties to show restraint.

It reiterated the Kingdom’s previous warnings of the risk of the situation boiling over in the territories given the ongoing Israeli occupation and deprivation of the Palestinian people of their legitimate rights.

It had also warned against the ongoing systematic provocations against sanctities.

Saudi Arabia called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and activate a credible peaceful process that would end with the implementation of the two-state solution to achieve security and peace in the region and protect civilians.
