Saudi Defense Minister, French Minister of Armed Forces Discuss Situation in Gaza

Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman has received a phone call from the French Minister of the Armed Forces, Sebastien Lecornu, and discussed the situation in Gaza and its surroundings, including international efforts concerning the developments.

The Saudi Defense Minister emphasized the necessity of ceasing military operations, protecting civilians, and upholding international humanitarian law.

He also stressed the importance of working to find solutions for restoring stability in the region and reinitiating the peace process, enabling the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights.

During the call, they reviewed the bilateral relations and the existing cooperation in defense fields, and discussed joint coordination regarding regional issues and the efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.

Saudi Arabia condemned on Wednesday Israel’s publication of maps that show its occupation of parts of Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, claiming these territories as its own.

In a statement, the Saudi Foreign Ministry slammed such extremist acts that reflect Israel’s “intentions to consolidate its occupation and continue its flagrant violation of the sovereignty of those nations.”

Saudi Arabia called on the international community to assume is responsibility in stopping these violations, “stressing the need to respect the sovereignty and borders of these countries to ease tensions and put a stop to attempts to undermine peace efforts.”
