Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi reaffirmed on Tuesday the consistent position of the GCC countries, which reject the serious Israeli violations in the Gaza Strip and its direct and continuous targeting of innocent lives, stressing the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire.

Meeting with a European Parliament delegation headed by Chair of the Delegation for Relations for the Arabian Peninsula Hannah Neumann at the General Secretariat in Riyadh, Albudaiwi discussed the latest developments in Gaza, and emphasized the GCC's steadfast position in support of all efforts to stop the escalation of military operations and secure corridors for needed humanitarian and medical assistance.

He unequivocally rejected calls for forcibly displacing the Palestinian people from Gaza, which is a violation of basic human rights and international principles.

The meeting also discussed GCC-European relations, and international issues and developments.

Saudi Arabia condemned on Saturday the approval by Israel’s security cabinet to expand settlements in the occupied West Bank.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said “the Kingdom firmly rejects the continuous Israeli violations of international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.”

It also cautioned about “the severe consequences of the practices of the Israeli occupation authorities, given the lack of international accountability.”

The ministry said the Israeli violations undermine the prospects for peace and exacerbate conflicts, destabilizing the region and the world.
