Saudi Crown Prince, Polish PM Discuss Regional and World Developments

Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, received on Thursday a phone call from Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

During the call, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and discussed ways to enhance prospects for bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Regional and international developments were also reviewed and a number of issues of common interest were discussed.

Saudi referee Abdullah Al-Shehri described his selection to officiate at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as an “exceptional” career milestone, expressing deep pride in representing the Kingdom among the world's elite officials at football's premier global tournament.

Al-Shehri told the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that the selection not merely as a personal triumph, but as the culmination of years of hard work, sacrifice, and continuous support.

"Participating in this tournament means a great deal to me. As a Saudi citizen, it is a tremendous honor to be present and represent the Kingdom among the world's best referees," Al-Shehri said.

"This is a great honor and a huge responsibility, and I am committed to representing my country to the best of my ability," he added.

He hoped that his participation will serve as a powerful motivation for the next generation of Saudi referees striving to reach international tournaments.

Commenting on the rigorous demands of the global stage, Al-Shehri stressed that World Cup officiating requires peak physical and mental readiness.

He credited his foundational training at the AFC Referees Academy for providing the confidence and skill development necessary to compete at the highest level of the sport.

Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received Dora Cattuti, the Adviser to the French President for the Middle East and North Africa, in Riyadh on Thursday, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The two officials reviewed bilateral relations between their countries, regional developments, and issues of mutual interest.

The Saudi FM also held a phone call with Portuguese Minister of State and Foreign Affairs Paulo Rangel.

During the call, Prince Faisal congratulated Rangel on Portugal's election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027-2028 term.

He expressed his aspiration to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the two countries in a manner that contributes to regional and international security and stability.

The two ministers also discussed regional developments and issues of mutual interest.

Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, sent a message on Thursday to France’s President Emmanuel Macron apologizing for his inability to attend the Group of Seven summit gathering citing prior commitments.

In his letter, the Crown Prince thanked Macron for the invitation to participate in the June 15–17 G7 summit in Evian-les-Bains, on the shore of Lake Geneva.

Prince Mohammed said he would be unable to attend because of prior commitments, reaffirming the strength of bilateral strategic relations between the two countries and extending his best wishes for a successful summit.
