Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Waleed Bukhari held talks on Monday with his Iranian counterpart Mojtaba Amani on the latest political developments in Lebanon and the region.
The officials met at Bukhari’s residence in the Yarze region east of Beirut.
The ambassadors discussed bilateral relations between their countries and exchanged views on issues of common interest, said a statement by the Saudi embassy.
Days earlier, Bukhari had held talks with his French counterpart Herve Magro and Egyptian counterpart Alaa Moussa.
The talks were held some ten days before a meeting of the Quintet on Lebanon that includes the United States, France, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar.
The group will discuss the presidential impasse in Lebanon. The country has been without a president since November 2022 when the term of Michel Aoun ended without the election of a successor.
Bickering among political parties has prevented the election of a president in spite of numerous electoral sessions that were held at parliament.
