Saudi Arabia has provided more than 224 million Riyals (around $60 million) in additional support to help the Yemeni government cover the salaries of public sector employees, Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammed Al-Jaber has said.

Al-Jaber announced on X Friday that the funding was disbursed through the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen under directives from the Saudi leadership and with the follow-up of Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman.

The support is aimed at addressing the Yemeni government’s budget deficit and ensuring the continued payment of state employees’ salaries, the diplomat added.

According to Al-Jaber, the funding will help maintain the government’s financial flows, provide foreign currency liquidity, support the stability of the Yemeni riyal and strengthen efforts to deliver basic services and promote economic stability.

The funding of 224.6 million Riyals comes from the keenness of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to improve the lives of the Yemeni people and support the efforts of the Yemeni government to serve them and meet their needs.

This support stimulates local markets across all Yemeni governorates by increasing commercial activity, and ensures the continued operation of essential public services provided to citizens, such as education and health.
