Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi emphasized the need for and importance of bolstering food security and humanitarian aid, particularly in light of escalating crises both regionally and globally.

He met on Saturday with Executive Director of the World Food Program (WFP) Cindy Hensley McCain on the sidelines of the 61st Munich Security Conference in Germany.

They reviewed the WFP's initiatives to support countries grappling with hunger and food insecurity, along with programs designed to restore food security, such as the "Changing Lives" initiative, which focuses on enhancing the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations.

They discussed methods to improve collaboration between the two sides in the areas of food security and humanitarian aid, highlighting the importance of coordinated and increased global efforts to address the challenges of delivering humanitarian and relief assistance and ensuring that aid reaches those in need.

Albudaiwi commended the WFP for its vital role in delivering urgent assistance, underlining the GCC's support for all initiatives related to food security.

McCain acknowledged the efforts and humanitarian aid extended by GCC countries, highlighting their significant and invaluable contributions to addressing both regional and international humanitarian challenges.

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression on Syrian territory, including Israel’s recent deadly bombardment of the town of Koya, the Saudi Press Agency said on Thursday.

The Jeddah-based organization described the attack as a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic, international law, and the United Nations Charter.

The General Secretariat stressed the need for the United Nations Security Council to shoulder its responsibilities and address these continuous attacks, reaffirming the OIC's solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic.

An Israeli attack killed six people in southern Syria and left several innocent people injured on Tuesday.
