Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, congratulated on Wednesday Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam after his government won the vote of confidence at parliament.

In a cable, he expressed his sincerest congratulations, wishing Salam and the Lebanese state success and the Lebanese people more progress.

The government won the vote of 95 out of 128 members of parliament. Twelve MPs voted against, while four abstained.

Salam stressed that his government’s main goal will be to “establish a state of law “, reform its institutions and “fortify its sovereignty”.

He said the government asserts that Lebanon has the right to defend itself in case of any “aggression” and only the state has the right to have weapons. He also said the government takes measures to liberate land occupied by Israel “through its forces only.”
