Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, reiterated the Council's unwavering support for the Syrian Arab Republic in its ongoing efforts to preserve its stability and ensure security of its people, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday.

He reiterated the position outlined in the final statement of the GCC Ministerial Council’s 163rd session, which condemned all acts of violence aimed at destabilizing Syria.

Albudaiwi emphasized the GCC’s firm stance against violence, terrorism, and criminal acts, regardless of their motives or justifications.
Albudaiwi hoped for peace, stability, and prosperity to prevail in Syria, under the principles of law and justice, while fulfilling the aspirations of the Syrian people for a brighter and more prosperous future.

Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and his accompanying delegation arrived in Jeddah on Wednesday.

He was received at King Abdulaziz International Airport by Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishal bin Abdulaziz, Mayor of Jeddah Saleh bin Ali Al-Turki, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki, and a number of officials.
