Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stressed on Monday Pakistan's support for the joint initiative by Saudi Arabia and France aimed at establishing a sovereign Palestinian state.
In a statement carried by the Pakistani news agency, Dar described the international conference held at the United Nations headquarters in New York as a significant step toward developing a roadmap for peace based on the two-state solution.
He hoped the conference would achieve two key objectives: securing an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and ensuring the unimpeded delivery of urgent humanitarian aid. He also stressed the importance of international recognition of an independent State of Palestine.
Dar underscored the need for full respect for international law and the implementation of all relevant UN and Security Council resolutions pertaining to international peace and security.
