Saudi Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil said the General Assembly's adoption of the two-state solution declaration is an important step towards reaffirming the centrality of the Palestinian cause.
The UN General Assembly on Friday overwhelmingly voted to endorse a declaration outlining "tangible, timebound, and irreversible steps" towards a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians ahead of a meeting of world leaders.
Alwasil stated that this underscores the international community's shared responsibility to end the suffering of the Palestinian people and find a just and comprehensive solution that establishes a Palestinian state in accordance with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Alwasil highlighted the Kingdom's unwavering commitment, under the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to work with international partners.
He said this is to support all efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace and guaranteeing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, thereby contributing to enhancing regional and global security and stability.
Alwasil added that the efforts are being followed up by Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah to support the Palestinian people and achieve an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
