Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received in Cairo on Thursday Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah for talks on bolstering bilateral cooperation between their countries and investment opportunities in various fields.

They also tackled the situation in Gaza, the need to implement the ceasefire there in full and kick off reconstruction.

The meeting was attended by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and ministers and officials from both countries.

Sisi underlined the strategic relations between Egypt and Kuwait and the historic ties that bind their peoples.

He extended his greetings to Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, praising his ongoing efforts in achieving development and prosperity in his country.

For his part, Sheikh Ahmad said relations between Kuwait and Egypt were witnessing “tangible development” on all levels.

Kuwait is keen on deepening the historic relations with Egypt, he added according to an Egyptian presidency spokesman.

He also congratulated Sisi on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, “which reflects his country’s rich history.”

The leaders addressed ways to “elevate relations between their countries to meet the aspirations of their people and serve common interests.”

They agreed to follow up on the implementation of the outcomes of Sisi’s visit to Kuwait in April, especially in deepening trade and investment.

The Kuwaiti PM also held talks with his Egyptian counterpart, who praised Kuwait’s constant support for Cairo.

Discussions focused on bilateral ties between their countries and an Egyptian-Kuwaiti team was formed to hold consultations on promising investment opportunities.

Sheikh Ahmad said his visit aims to consolidate the strong ties between their nations.

He hoped the incentives offered by the Egyptian government would attract more Kuwaiti investors in the private sector.
