OIC Warns Against Israeli Plans Targeting Hebron and its Holy Sites

The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) warned on Wednesday of the “serious implications of Israeli measures aimed at altering the political, historical, and legal status of Hebron.”

The latest of these measures is a decision by the Israeli finance minister to revoke the municipality’s authority over the Ibrahimi Mosque, the Old City, and surrounding areas, and to revoke the Hebron Agreement.

“Israel has no sovereignty over the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including the city of Hebron and its holy sites, and all religious, historical, heritage, and cultural sites therein, in accordance with the relevant United Nations and UNESCO resolutions,” stressed the OIC.

It called on the international community “to fulfill its responsibilities towards the preservation and protection of the Ibrahimi Mosque, the Old City of Hebron and its historical landmarks, as they form an integral part of the territory of the State of Palestine.”

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud issued a royal order promoting and appointing 26 judges to the Board of Grievances, the Saudi Press Agency said on Saturday.

President of the Board of Grievances and President of the Administrative Judiciary Council Dr. Ali Alohaydib said the order would strengthen the judicial workforce, enhance judicial efficiency, and improve the quality of rulings.

He added that it reflected the support extended to the administrative judiciary by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the continued attention and follow-up of the Crown Prince.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah received his Syrian counterpart, Asaad al-Shaibani, in Riyadh on Friday. Al-Shaibani condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and expressed Syria’s solidarity with the Kingdom, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The two officials discussed bilateral ties, ways to strengthen cooperation across various fields, and regional developments amid Houthi escalation against the Kingdom.

They emphasized that the security of the Kingdom and Syria is an integral part of Arab national security, underscoring the importance of continued coordination and cooperation to help maintain regional security and stability.

The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said it destroyed two ballistic missile launch platforms in Saada province early on Saturday.

Late on Friday, coalition spokesman Major General Turki al-Malki said the coalition had foiled attempts to smuggle weapons by sea to Houthi militia forces in Hodeidah province.

Al-Malki posted a video on X showing strikes targeting the arms-smuggling operations, saying: “We strike them on land ... we sink them at sea.”

The UN Security Council had strongly condemned on Thursday the ongoing and escalating Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, including those that hit civil aviation and energy infrastructure, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries.

In a statement, the Security Council expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia affirming the kingdom’s inherent right to self-defense in accordance with international law.

The statement called on the Houthis to immediately halt their military escalation and attacks targeting civilians. It reiterated the Security Council’s support for the Yemeni government and its strong commitment to Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
