Saudi: Reports on Helicopter Crash Killing Asir Region Deputy Governor, Officials

Reports were made on Sunday on the Deputy Governor of Saudi Arabia’s Asir Region alongside a number of officials were killed in a helicopter crash while inspecting development projects.


“On Sunday morning, as part of his periodic inspection tours, the Deputy Governor of Asir Region, accompanied by officials in the region, boarded a helicopter to tour a number of coastal projects west of Abha city,” the Interior Ministry's security spokesman said in statement published on the Saudi state-owned news agency (SPA).


“While returning in the evening of the same day, contact with the plane was lost in the vicinity of the Reda reserve,” the statement added.


“Authorities are currently searching for survivors as the wreckage has been found. Developments will be announced,” the spokesman concluded.
