Saad Hariri, who resigned from his post as Lebanon's prime minister two weeks ago, said on Friday he has been in Saudi Arabia for discussions "on the future of the situation in Lebanon and its relations with the surrounding Arab region".

Writing on Twitter, Hariri also said information which has been circulating about his stay, his departure and his family are "just rumors".

The office of French President Emmanuel Macron said Hariri is expected in Paris' presidential palace by midday Saturday.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil hoped that Hariri would return to Beirut following his visit to Paris.
