Five al-Qaida operatives were killed in US airstrikes in Yemen, announced the US military on Friday.
The strikes that were carried out on November 20, targeted the central Bayda province.
The Central Command said those killed included Mujahid al-Adani, an al-Qaida leader in the neighboring province of Shabwa.
Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has long been seen by US officials as the most dangerous offshoot of the global network founded by Osama bin Laden.
“Al-Adani maintained a significant influence within AQAP as well as close ties to other AQAP senior leaders,” added the Central Command.
