Ministry of Labor and Social Development has deposited its first installment into the Citizens' Account on Thursday.

Saudi Arabia deposited SAR2 billion ($533 million) in the banking accounts of Citizens Account beneficiaries, said Minister of Labor and Social Development Ali al-Ghafees.

He added that bank transfers were made to approximately 3 million families, reaching around 10.6 million beneficiaries -- half of those families received the maximum payment of SAR938 ($250.1).

Ali Rajhi, general manager of the program, said that the second payment will be deposited on January 10, and those who have completed their applications by December 16 would be able to benefit from it.

On the 10th of each month, payments will be disbursed unless the 10th coincides with a Friday.

“Complaints will be received regarding the amount after five days from depositing it,” through registered accounts on the e-portal or the call center, said Rajhi. He pointed out that objection over in-qualification commenced on Thursday.

Citizens Account is the first government program of its kind in the country – it covers all support forms through one platform.

The program policies stipulate that the beneficiary should be holding the Saudi nationality and residing permanently in the kingdom. He also shouldn’t be at one of the government shelters or prisons.

The amount granted is determined by several factors including the household income and family members number and ages. It is variable based on changes in these basic factors in which the amount might be increased or decreases depending on beneficiaries' burden .

Citizens Account program is one of the financial balance program initiatives in the kingdom.
